Euro 2002 - JB Gillet
JB Gillet Repping the now defunct Link footwear.
JB Gillet was sick to watch, i don't remember him skating about too much, i'm guessing comps really aren't his thing. He did however skate long enough for me to catch this.
Backside 180 Fakie Nosegrind. Sick.

CLYDE SPOT FINALLY OPEN!
Been waiting for this place to finally be fence free for adges and here it is. The ledges run all the way up the Clydeside walkway with your standard ledges, manual pads, gaps and even benches with metal edges! Heres a few clips of Tom skating them from Wednesday.

Sunday Sequence
Sunday sequence this week goes to a miniture Bobby Baillie.
This Handrail was right next to my house in Dedridge in Livingston. It was at the Lanthorn Centre which was a community centre, library, cafe, and youth club. I spend many a good year there at Playscheme, birthday discos, and the Dedridge Galaday.
I would pass this everyday on my way skating and always thought it was very skatable. I took Bobby there one sunny Saturday afternoon, he wasted no time in laying down a crook, only took him a few goes too.
Bobby was the second person (to my knowledge) to skate it, the first being Steetz
Unfortunately the rails are no longer there. I hope for the kids sake that the Playscheme is still running, i had a wicked awesome time playing there in the summers.

Euro 2002 - Gershon Mosley
I was super stoked to see Gershon skating, he'd been one of my favourites for ages.
He was skating about with a weird over the shoulder bumbag. It had some kind of walkman in it, given that it was 2002 it could well have been a tape player, i was still rocking one. He was also wearing the biggest set of headphones i have ever seen anyone skate in, i've no idea how those bad boys didn't come flying off. For me this was one of the sickest tricks i saw at the comp, that table top is massive! You can see in the background that it was meant for on top of a driveway, it was seriously big.

Copenhagen World Champs 2002
On the Euro trip we stayed for a little while in Copehangen, roughly two weeks. During that time we had the pleasure of going to the World Champs. For myself it was the first time i had been to such a competition, there were big name pro skaters everywhere. I brought my camera gear with me in the off chance that i could maybe fire off a few shots, but when i saw the quality of skating i knew i had to get in on the action.
I went to the registration office (which was kindly pointed out to me by Reese Forbes) and told them that was from a skateboard magazine in Scotland, i filled in some bogus details and they gave me a photographer wrist band. I was free to roam the street course and take photos of whoever i want.
First off, Caswell Berry - 360 flip up the step up.

Sunday Sequence
This weeks Sunday Sequence is taken from my 2002 Euro trip. We managed to park out VW Camper right outside the Mystic Skatepark for about a week before the worst floods in over 100 years chased us away. The skatepark is situated on a funny little island, almost like a moat. We watched the water getting higher and higher everyday until the banks of the river further up (in Dresdon Germany) burst. It was crazy, there were helicopters over head evacuating people, the lower city was completely sand bagged, and we couldn't drive to the other end of the city were my friend Robbie was being held in the mental wing of a non-English speaking hospital. But thats a different story altogether.
Petr Horvat Backside Lipside before the floods.
He also got a Backside Tailslide bigspin out but i ran out of film! Times were hard then, especially as all i could afford to eat was the 'Euro Sandwich'. The 'Euro Sandwich' consisted of a big ass bread roll, pepperoni, cream cheese, and if i could afford it, crisps. This was cut into 3 parts to cover breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Those were the days.
More Euro 2002 storys to follow.
