Back In The Day - Lanthorn Pt.2

I had a good rummage through my negs and slides and these are the only two photos i could find. I have a photo of Niell Barlow front nosesliding it but i can't find it anywhere.
These will have to do for now.

Skeetz - Crook, Fisheye and long lens.

Still like the fisheye one, the long lens shot scanned in squint so it's a bit of a gammy crop. I need to find that frontnose.

Jamie Bolland

Jamie Bolland has mad pop, that flip over that rail in his Sidewalk Haunts is still amazing, and no one has stepped to it since.

Switch Ollie.

Hope you're keeping well Jamie.

Euro 2002 Leftovers

While looking for old photos of The Arches and the Lanthorn i came across some Euro 2002 photos that i missed. Check out Mark 92, Robbie, Nick, and a few other bits and bobs from the trip.

I can't remember the name of the skater in the last two photos, but we met him in Gothenburg. He said he had access to an indoor skatepark, it was closed but he said he could get the keys. He skated off and came back five minutes later, ten minutes later we were skating this amazing indoor park on our own. I recall him saying he was on Minute Skateboards, (the short lived U.K company from a few years back) i did check when i got back but i can't remember his name. Cheers anyway dude, we had a rad time.

Back In The Day - Stuart Duncan

Stuart Duncan or Stuarty from Falkirk as he's more known is a bit of a beast on a board. Don't really see him out and about these days but i've spent a good few hours trying to beat him at s.k.a.t.e, needless to say i didn't win.
We never really planned to go out shooting, these photos were the result of having my camera handy when we were skating about. The first two photos were the first time i'd cross processed a film too. I got him to do the tricks while smoking, Drehobl style!

Salad Grind

Crook

360 Flip

Switch Noseslide

Smith Grind

360 Flip

The last trick was shot in Malaga, the result of a 'bro down' holiday in January 2006 that was spent mostly drinking and being cold. Winter sucks.

And The Slam Of The Year Award Goes To.......

Rab Milne.

Probably the worst slam i've ever seen, and the only time i've ever felt bad after shooting a photo.
The police had moved us on minutes before but that didn't put us off, we hid round the corner, i got my camera out and Rab went for it. He was on it first go and we all couldn't believe it, Benson, Keith Allan, Kerr, Tamo, and myself were all there to witness it. He gets up straight away, climbs to the top and get ready to drop in.
Boom! That didn't look good. I paused for a second, realized he wasn't moving, then ran over. Just as i approached the police that moved us away came past again, got out and called an ambulance.
He didn't really know what had happened, but handled it like a champ. After getting numerous 'telling offs' from the police, janitors, and local pub dwellers, Rab started apologizing for not landing it. Lying on the ground, head bleeding in a neck cast, apologizing, like i didn't feel bad enough.

He came into the shop the next day to say he was ok, to say he was super stoked that i shot the sequence, and that he wanted to try it again.

Slam of the year Rab.

John Anderson

Coming through to Edinburgh from Livi i used to frequent Bristo when i first started skating. I would sometimes skive school on a Friday and head through early doors and skate all day. Two things were certain on those days, i'd be hungry as i only had enough money for bus fare and John Anderson would show up at some point or already be there. Armed with a book and a rollie he'd skate, read, then skate for a bit, this would be repeated all day.
This tailslide photo was shot at a Bristo jam around 2001. Must've been getting on as it looks pretty dark.

I can't remember the last time i saw John at Bristo, i think you're more likely to find him here, eating twigs and rubbing sticks together.

Wrap up John, it's getting cold!

Bobcat

I was reading some rad interviews over at 48 Blocks. The short lived company 60/40 was mentioned a few times and i suddenly remembered the highlight of the video. Steve 'Stone Cold' Hampson had it, wasn't very good and the line up was questionable.
Best end credits ever, the filmers laugh is so infectious.

Youtube has everything.
